Ode to a Naked Mannequin

Naked Lady
         Sitting in a chair
So obvious — so bare
So totally unaware
Of all the chaos you create.
People double take
Panic at your nakedness
         You sit there
Cold, immobile, beautiful in your
         Plastic Reality.
Re-action…..Laughter and vast relief
As people realize
In surprise
         You’re just a dummy
         You’re make believe.
But the in-road has been made
You’ve broken through the façade
We feel uncomfortable and odd
And sneak a glance
In askance,
“Hey, Naked Lady in the chair
         sitting there
         with passive stare
         so beautiful, so bare

Which one of us is really unaware?”
