Negative vs. Positive

The alarm bell is ringing its mad tune.
Time to get up, time to start the day.
Smile at your self. I don’t want to smile.
Brush your teeth, hair. I don’t want to.
In frustration did the positives,
dressed, made ready for the day.

Arriving at the office, attitude grumpy.
Must I be nice to people? I don’t want to be nice.
Must I smile at people? I don’t want to smile.
Must I be patient? I don’t want to be patient.
Sitting in my chair, my feet on the desk,
saying to myself, I must accentuate the positive.
So I did, had a great day, now and thereafter.

I am a man well past
three score and ten
who knows the value
of angels in my life,
dressed in disguise,
my relatives and friends,
all professional staff
looking after our needs
and cheering us on
to keep on going.

Keep on going to bed every night,
have a good nights sleep,
wake up in the morning,
ready to move on,
every day.
