Good Night, Sweetheart

Kay just came home
happy as a lark,
won a dollar, ten at mahj,
making her feel so good.

At times we get mad at each other,
always mad about each other,
ever ending the day
with a goodnight kiss.

Kay’s TV movie almost over,
me, typing and correcting,
time for Kay’s bedtime snack
of fruit and a few cookies.

I’m first to get ready for the night,
then sit in my chair for nightly eye drops.
Kay passes by, on her way, stops.
We engage in our goodnight kiss.
