The Two Pears

Five years ago on our 65th anniversary
we were given a gift by our niece Louise,
a gift of her painting, the Two Pears,
joined together by their stems,
its meaning touching and obvious.

Five years have gone, still looking
at the Two Pears, a new meaning.
The Two Pears, out of her gallery,
honouring our togetherness and love.

While she wielded her brush and worked,
thoughts in her mind assailed her,
visions of a grand world
together with love, peace and harmony.
The way I look at it now.
